Looking ahead to the International Agricultural Technologies Show in Verona (31 January - 3 February 2018)

Tomorrow, the staff of Fieragricola, the international trade fair scheduled in Verona from 31 January - 3 February 2018, will be in Bormio, Valtellina, for the final of the Stihl Timbersports Italian Championship, which includes six disciplines involving wood cutting and felling. It is a real sport that combines free time with traditional labour and lifestyle, capable of attracting crowds in their thousands.

The event will take place in the Funivia (cable car) car park in Via Battaglion, Morbegno, and entry is free. Starting at 10.30am, a European Under 25 competition will be held to qualify for the World Championships in this sport, in the Rookie 2018 category.

The forestry and wood chain at Fieragricola

Forestry management and promoting the forestry-wood chain and the forestry-wood-energy chain will be given scope at the 113th edition of Fieragricola to be held in Verona, which sees the forestry industry playing a key role in increasing the income of farms, developing the wood industry (not only for energy purposes), as well as protecting the territory from hydrological instability.

In particular, Veronafiere would like to point out that at Fieragricola 2018 a specific exhibitors' area will be set up, with adjacent demo areas in Hall 3, thus confirming the attention that the major broad-ranging agricultural event in Italy gives to issues related to income from forestry.

Demo areas at Fieragricola

At the next edition of Fieragricola, the dynamic areas will be extended (7,500 square metres) so that moving machinery and well-equipped sites can be observed. At the same time, the vehicle presentation service will go ahead with the assistance of manufacturers, technicians and university professors, who are experts in mechanics and precision farming. In Hall 3, instead, the focus will be on the forestry and wood industry.

In Bormio to crown the Italian champion

Tomorrow, 22 July, as part of the Via Funivia Festival in Bormio, the 12 best athletes of the season will compete against each other by axe-cutting, sawing and chain sawing in an attempt to wear the blue jersey at the World Championships this year. Newspaper columns report that the favourite is the Italian champion of the category, Michael Del Pin (19 years old), who will try to make his way up in the international ranking.
The winners will represent Italy in the 2017 World Championships in the individual trial. Throughout the day, a refreshment and bar service will be provided, as well as a DJ mix, exhibition stands and plenty of action. And, of course, the Fieragricola of Verona staff will also be there.
